Mersey Bowmen now has six league tennis teams in the Liverpool league: three men’s and three ladies’, plus mixed teams that compete in the Liverpool League’s two cup competitions, the Fairlawn and the Brockbank.  And we have two teams in the Wirral winter league.

In the Liverpool leagues we have three men’s teams in divisions A, E and H, whilst the ladies have two teams in divisions A and a new third team in E.
The men’s teams continue to grow in strength with our 1st team staying in division A and our 2nd team gaining promotion for the 3rd successive year and now in division E.
The ladies had a very successful year with our 2nd team winning division B, and our 1st team finishing runner up in division A.  So, we now have two teams in the top division!  Our ladies have good history, winning the division A championship in 2011 and 2014, and finishing runners up in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016.

New for Winter 2016 we entered two teams in to the Wirral winter league.  We were placed in divisions C and D and our captain Matt managed the teams so well, mixing strong players with those who wanted to learn from some good league matches.
NEWS JUST IN – Our teams won League C and D.  You can read more about the Wirral league and see the league table here.

Our mixed teams continue to punch above their weight, reaching the final of the Fairlawn in 2009 and 2010, and the semi-final of the Brockbank in 2011 and 2012.

Both the men’s and ladies’ teams also play in the Lancashire Cup competitions, the Roscoe and Ransome trophies for men, and the Liebert Rose Bowl and Ralph Bint Trophy for women. The ladies won the Ralph Bint trophy in 2007, and finished runners up in 2012.

All players are welcome to join the teams; team practises are held before the start of the season, usually in March and April, and you’ll be able to find more details on the website and in the newsletter nearer the time.
